Cd-Rom hesitate to instigate?

If near is no cd in the cd burner, I hold to press the button 3 times to open it. Each time I press the button, the tray tries to clear, hesitates, afterwards the light flashes as if reading the drive. If here is a cd in the drive, it will depart first shot. I purchased the cd burner with my computer from Dell almost 3 years ago. My warranty have run out on it. My DVD-Rom opens fine every time. Does anyone enjoy the same problem? Thanks for your serve.

Answer:

What's the point in fixing it if you've already bought it's replacement... you won't involve it anymore. Well i'm afraid there's no way really for you to fix it. You would hold to send it sour to Dell for repair and at that cost (outside of warranty) you would be better of buying it's replacement. (which you already have)
its prolly just wore slap out ... cd burners are around 10 bucks ,,, get a different one ...
dont fiddle next to it
I would say that's usual, its a Dell but I have impossible to tell apart problem with a non Dell DVD drive and its also 3 years weak. Anyway, as there so affordable now I'm going to replace it.
Okay, go to my Computer later right click the drive and press "Eject" and see how it runs.
Get a macbook if you want life to be much easier! Again you can also get hold of a new cd burner and install it!

cd-rom backing?

my knees tops cd rom is no longer working for some reason and i be thinking of buying an external instead of replacing it, is there any point i have to do to the one specifically in my laptop.

Answer:

Here's the item about laptops. If you can digit out how to take the bottom covers stale, replacing the CD-ROM is easy. It pops out quite easy and you in recent times need to pop a unmarked one in one and the same way. On the otherhand, If you do move about external which is more expensive, no you do not need to do anything to the broken one. the laptop will make out it and it will ask you every time if you pop in a Cd which CD-ROM to use. Good satisfactory, yes?

CD/DVD ROM had it!?

I hold a dell inspiron 1150. Last night my cd\dvd rom quit on me. It will deed like it desires to start but then it lately stops. I tried to play it in musicmatch and window media and it say there's not a cd in nearby! Help!

Answer:

try this. put in a cd. and re-boot the laptop with the cd inside. when window loads and try the cd. if the cd works this time then theres a problem next to your "Auto Run" option for your cd.

if this doesnt work consequently theres a software or hardware problem. either the cable have come loose, or the cdrom is faulty, and have died. software: could be that your driver for the CD rom is gone some how, (happens when you install conflicting tentative software). so install a newer driver

you probably got a driver cd beside your pc, so pop that surrounded by and re install the CD ROM.

hope this help
So, there are a few things worth checking. Is the IDE cable you are using an 80 lead UDMA cable? If so, change it for a standard 40 chain IDE cable CD & DVD writers sometimes don't similar to working on 80 wire cable especially if the databus line drivers are marginal, if you own an obliging friend, find both burners checked out on a different machine. You may find that coincidence to the contrary, both drives are out of order.

You didn't say what OS or burning software you use, but if adjectives else fails, it might be worth doing a repair install of window, but I can't see that that would be the problem really.

I have have the same problem next to a couple desktop computers of mine. After upgrading the firmware, the problem was resolved. BEWARE upgrading your firmware may lead to it to not work at all if you stop the upgrade contained by the middle!! If you post the model found in device organizer, I can probably give you a cooperation to the firmware upgrade you need. You can also try buying a CD-ROM lense cleaner that you can buy at Bestbuy or Circuit City for more or less $10. GOOD LUCK!
Sometimes it just happen, it is a pretty much a natural problem. Sometime the cd lately runs a a very speedy rate and the computer can't keep up. It can also mess up if you do this will carrying or tilting your laptop when using it within your lap. If you suggest it is techinal. Use your driver reinstall disc.
You might have too frequent programs open. The CPU is distributing access to it. When one program is working the player must skulk.
Hi. Also check that your background programs aren't interfering. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del one time to catch to the task superior and look at your processes.

compact disc writer cause notebook to crash! Why?

Over the final few days, my notebook PC (IBM X Note, 29 gb hard drive, 512 mb push, CPU 2 ghz, Windows XP with service pack 2), have crashed four times while trying to burn mp3s to CDR. It doesn't seem to event which programme I use (I have tried Windows Media Player and Nero beside the same result). It suddenly comes up next to a blue screen beside white writing on it for a split second, then restarts Windows. No problems noted beside anything else. Any ideas...please?

Answer:

First launch eventvwr.exe, the Event Viewer. Look at the System and Application groups for Red "X"'s. This may make a contribution you an idea. The computer is rebooting any because a critical error has occured or you enjoy a hardware issue.

You can also try using Device Manager and remove the drive. Reboot the computer and let Windows redetect it. This is individual a first step. If it does not resolve your problem you'll have to verbs on this a little more.
Any downloads or info retrieved from the web over the last few days have been on a leading go so, to in close proximity stop. so maybe thats why your download took on a glitch. x
I reckon you need more RAM to be capable of burn the CD, I hold 1gb an I am considering going up to 2gb
Best bet would be trying to reinstall the CD drive's driver files. I have a similar problem and that helped me.

Make sure any compact disc burning software or drivers that came beside the CD are disabled and after reinstall them.
Your notebook may be using too many resources.

Disable or exit from adjectives resident programs, like the little icon on your start menu.

You can also defrag your hard drive to clear things run faster - that helps beside everything you do on the computer.

compact disc ROM ruined on my Compaq laptop?

I own a new (6 weeks) laptop. I be playing a pc hobby on Saturday night and the subsequent time i used the pc (monday) it wouldn't read any of my disc (DVD, compact disc, or games) I tried to restart the pc and that hasn't done anything. Any suggestions? Should I move about to the store and use my warranty?

Answer:

Yeah, use the warranty while you have it. Theres too various thing that it could be to be capable of tell what the problem is lacking being hand on. Plus if you take it apart yourself it will negated the warranty.

And unless you changed anything I doubt its the software or drivers.
If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem next to device drivers, hardware or software.
