Changing DVD region on my laptop?

I moved final to the UK from Florida and bought my laptop with me. My sound out is can I change the region setting so that I can play UK DVD's. Its locked out to the US region at the momnet.

Cheers.

Answer:

I found this utility to work all right (didn't change my hardware which with the sole purpose allows you to do so a very restricted number of times): http://www.dvd43.com/
Well I dont believe you can change it as its the hardware so if you get a disc drive from the uk then probably you could but otherwise I ponder its nearly impossible.
All modern PC movie software and DVD drives have built-in DRM (Digital Rights Management)

You entail to research the on-going battle between users (who seem to be to believe they are entitled to play anything they buy) and the major content providers (such as Sony) who in fact own the material and believe they are entitled to control how/who can replay the movies for ever.

Typically you can move the Region 3 times on the DVD Drive (using a software utility) - after that it locks up.

Modified Micro-code is available for some drives that removes this limit.

All Software Players (except Open Source) also enjoy built in DRM that prevents Region switching, however that is to say easier to overcome.

varying cpu?

can you vary a amd cpu for a different cpu like intel

Answer:

All wrong so far. Most motherboards will allow you to use both AMD and Intel base CPUs. The difference that you need to see for are the voltage settings, and the maximum/minimum that the motherboard will work with. Most of the time you can obtain this information from the manufactures site who made the motherboard. Clock speeds are also something key, but not necessarily restrictive as many use overclocking to brand name their computers run faster using slower chips. Many older boards have switches and jumpers that you could loose change to configure different CPUs to work. Most of the newer boards have unstable BIOSes that will determine which chip is installed and make those change for you. The socket is only one restriction, others are on a per board bias. Check beside the motherboard manufacturer to see what your board will support. Hope this help
No. The socket on the motherboard is different for AMD than it is for Intel CPUs
u could.as long as ur new procesor have the same socket as the finishing one, otherwize it wouldnt be compatible with ur mainboard
nope, the socket for both the processor if different. For intel here is two type of board for Pc such as soc 478 and 775. for amd it has s754 and s940. from the given name u can see the diff. u can only can't use the processor but push,hd, internal cards can be used.

Change Intel Chip on Vaio TX?

I own the 'latest' Sony Vaio, TX47, which has the solo Intel chip - is it possible, or will it be possible, to upgrade the computer to the Duo 2 chip?

Answer:

sorry buddy, the tx47 is a different breed of notebook

note, it uses the u1400, 1.2 ghz processor surrounded by most probability

this is a ultra low voltage processor, not a normal t1x00 solo processor, or t2x00 / t2x50 duo

& the core 2 duo processors are t5x00 / t7x00, whose fsb is 667 mhz., whereas u'r fsb (u1400) i guess is 400 mhz

so, best forget any processor upgrade
It's possible, but you call for to make sure that alike model of Vaio is capable ob handlng the chip and is sold beside that currently. If it is, all you should involve is a firmware upgrade from the manufacturer (Sony). They use impossible to tell apart slots =)
No. The mainboard must also be chaged out and it must also fit that specific model notebook.

Centrino Duo Core laptop suggestion!?

I'm looking into investing surrounded by a Dell (i know, i know) Intel Core 2 Duo T5200 1.6 ghz, 2mb L2 cache, 733 mhz FSB, 1024mb 533mhz Dual Channel DDR2 Ram, Nvidia Geforce 7300 GO Graphics Card. This is looking to cost lb590. Most importantly is this system going to be able to fiddle with some of the most recent PC games hitting the market? I know better spec'd laptops closer to lb1000 would be better but my budget is lb600 max.

Answer:

first sound out is do you really need a laptop to play top serration games

play games on a good desktop within my opinion
