can you recommend a suitably priced laptop for the technophobe?

my mum is wanting to grasp a laptop but doesn't know much about computers. she requirements something that is smooth to find her way around, looking to spend between lb500 and lb800. any design would be great!!

Answer:

For god's sake don't ever, ever buy anything that expensive from ebay unless you can see it first and pay brass on collection. Have you not read the recent scams of population being ripped stale. You will got seriously of laptop for lb600. Look at www.ebuyer.co.uk. They have an excellent reputation and subsequent day nativity. We have 2 acers and wouldn't buy anything else. You will find a nice dual core one for lb600. Look at the 5612 or 5633 acer models. Hope this helps
Get one bad ebay, you don't need to spend loads. If you want a brand unknown one, go to Tesco.com. Seriously. That's where on earth my next one is coming from.
I would recommend you save an eye open for some of the offer from PC World. They have some great deal, if you're prepared to wait for for a time while. You might also want to contact them and ask when they might be having a mart on.
I wouldnt normally sugest laptops to ancestors. they are fun and a great idea, but they are still the pricer remedy - you get smaller quantity for your money, you pay more to grasp them fixed and they are easier to break. But if a laptop is what she desires, woolworths has a spanking new medion vista laptop @ lb399, medion isn't a brand that I think is trustworthy or reliable, but if you own problems with it, whip it back and procure a new one. You wont hold an easy route like that if you buy from ebay. Vista is the bright op, so she is best to get use to that to some extent than XP, because she will only hold to change latter, for modern games / software / hardware e.c.t. especially with DX10.
