Any computer running Windows is vulnerable to spyware infestation, whether it's a laptop or desktop.

A lot of unpleasant sites and popup ads do something call a "drive by download" in which simply clicking on that classified ad, or going to a certain site will result within a stealthy download of malicious software.

www.trendmicro.com have a free spyware check called "housecall" that you may want to check out.

Also try lavasoft's AdAware, and another utility call Spybot - they're both free, and quite impressive at detecting and eliminating spyware.
You can put SPYWARE on any computer, but why would you want to?

If you be a sign of an ANTISPYWARE program, then the answer is yes.
