Signal rebirth, in computer network, refers to extending the length that a network signal can travel. For example, an ethernet cable is with the sole purpose able to take a signal about 300 foot (100 meters). The effort needed for the signal to travel through the cable will mete out it to degrade to where on earth it is no longer readable.



A hareware device, called a repeater (amoung other names), can be placed contained by the ethernet line at the 300 foot point which will takeover any signals coming over the line and rebroadcast (regenerate) them at full strength, allowing them to travel another 300 foot. This extends the length of your signal to 600 foot. A standard router can be used as a repeater.



Same can be done with a wireless exchange cards, by placing a wireless repeater near the outer top of the wireless coverage area.
